CSA Guidelines and FAQ

We recognize people have different needs when purchasing and consuming food.   We hope to offer seasonal options that accommodate many of these different needs, but also help ensure that  a healthy, nutritious, locally sourced diet is not out of reach for anyone.  Standard sized and family sized boxes will still be available as options, but the CSA share season is divided into several distinctive timeframes.  The "peak season share" is a great option for experiencing the best qualities of a CSA  program while reducing the level of time/cost committment.  The "early season share" with the emphasis on early crops, and the "late season share" with its storage crops can also be purchased separately, or all three parts can be combined with a slight discount for a full season of box deliveries.  Updated weekly, the online store will feature a wide variety of other products that customers can add on or choose from to build their own boxes every order.  We will again be offering a range of pickup and delivery options throughout the Similkameen and South Okanagan areas.  Full pre-season payment for any of the standard or family boxes will secure your spot on our regular delivery list and allows us to better plan crops for the CSA program and iron out other pre-season organizational duties.  Obviously it also contributes direct assistance at a crucial point of the season, as what happens in the spring has a tremendous effect on the quantity and quality of our final products.  However, we are not requiring any pre-season commitment, and to accommodate those who need it or prefer it, using our online store allows everyone to have a "pay as you go" option. We feel it is most important that we reach as many people as possible with regular notifications (and the availability list) so please encourage your neighbour (and others!) to sign up and receive emails. We recognize that people are exposed to a multitude of food shopping options, but hope that our 'direct to you from a local farm' model will be recognized.  We look forward to providing you with fresh food products and flowers from our farm.

What if I go on vacation and can’t pick up my vegetables that week?

If you are going to be away on one of our delivery days provide us with at least 2 days notice and we can arrange a date for you to pick up from the farm. Or you can double up your boxes on another week, or gift your share to a friend/neighbour and have them pick up on your behalf. We do not offer refunds for missed weeks, but are happy to arrange credit towards other farm purchases. Contact us to work something out.

Where do you deliver?

We are currently delivering throughout the Similkameen (Princeton, Hedley, Keremeos and Cawston) and the South Okanagan (Osoyoos, Oliver, OK Falls, Kaleden, Penticton, Summerland and Naramata). Please note that more remote locations outside our general routes will be considered on a case by case basis.  In certain cases, a more accessible pickup location may be necessary.

When and how do I get my produce?

Your order can either be picked up or you can receive it via home delivery.  Your order can  be picked up at the farm (The Farm Store in Keremeos) on Thursday (10-3).  When this doesn't work out, we can arrange an alternate time.  We also provide regular home delivery in our region, serving the South Okanagan on Thursdays and the Similkameen Valley on Fridays.

What if I don’t/can’t eat a certain vegetable?

We know not everyone loves every vegetable, its a reality. If this is the case, just let us know pre-season and we will happily replace it on an ongoing basis.

What if I am not at home to receive my delivery?

Fresh produce and flowers are perishable and require special care and handling at all times.  We encourage everybody to provide us with specific delivery instructions, especially for the case when you are not at home.  Delivery times will be somewhat regular, but the flexibility of our online store alters this schedule weekly.  It is best to have a mutually understood system that takes proper handling into account.
